Those at high risk are people aged 65 years and older and people who live in a nursing home or long-term care facility. Those at high risk include people of all ages with underlying medical conditions, particularly if not well controlled, including:
Chronic lung disease or moderate to severe asthma
Serious heart conditions
Compromised immune systems
Severe obesity (body mass index of 40 or higher)
Chronic kidney disease undergoing dialysis
Camp Illiana recommends all Family Camp participants obtain medical clearance to attend camp by your primary care provider if you are concerned about an underlying health condition.
Before Family Camp
Camp Illiana suggests all participants pre-screen by self-monitoring 14 days before arriving at camp.

Cleaning and Disinfection
The purpose of the Camp Illiana cleaning and disinfection plans is to minimize the transmission of viruses and provide a fresh clean environment in buildings and common areas. Cleaning entails washing with a detergent and water to remove soil, organic matter, and some microorganisms from a surface. After the detergent and water wash, “disinfecting” entails the use of an EPA-approved disinfectant applied in accordance with the manufacturer recommendations. Cleaning schedules include procedures for two-stage cleaning and disinfection. The following locations and equipment are included in daily cleaning plans:
Dogwood Cabin/Nurses Office
Camp Illiana Quarantine Area
Pool House, Pools, and Equipment
Adventure Element Equipment Shed and Areas
Participants are encouraged to wash their hands. Camp Illiana has also installed 30 hand sanitizer dispensers throughout the camp located at every door entry to each building and areas.
Face Coverings and Social Distances
The State of Indiana and our local health department require social distancing. At times when social distancing is not possible, face coverings are required for people ages 8 and up. Camp Illiana has available a colorful tubular headwear, aka the tubie. The tubie can also be used as headwear and/or a face covering for Family Camp if desired. Tubies are available at check-in or in the camp store for a price of $5.
Swimming opportunities will be available at a 50 percent pool capacity. The pool and lake water are lab tested each week and monitored by state health officials. Additional areas will be cleaned and sanitized, using EPA approved disinfectant.
Games and Adventure Element Activities
Games and adventure element activities occurring at Family Camp may have some modifications to help in spreading out participants as much as possible. Areas will be cleaned and sanitized, using EPA approved disinfectant.
Worship and Teaching
Family Camp worship and teaching will occur this year in the pavilion Efforts will be made to spread out as much as possible and you should bring lawn chairs for maximum comfort.
Sleeping areas in Lakeview Lodge consist of ten rooms with six sets of bunk beds. Sleeping areas in Valleyview Lodge consist of ten rooms upstairs with six sets of bunk beds and downstairs three rooms with six to nine bunk beds in each room. Limited sleeping areas will be available with one family allowed to stay in each room.
Local families are encouraged to find alternative sleeping arrangements.
